This dish originated in the
Alsace-Lorraine region of France. It is
a pastry shell filled with a savory
custard of eggs, cream, onions,

seasonings. Quiche Lorraine includes
crisp bacon.

Quince - The round pear-shaped fruit of the quince
tree. The flesh tastes somewhat like a
cross between an apple and a pear.
Popular in jams, jellies, and preserves,
this fruit is normally better for
cooking than for eating out-of-hand.

Quinoa - This "supergrain of the future" contains more
protein than any other grain. It is a
"complete protein" (it contains all 8
essential amino acids) and is very high
in unsaturate fat. Can be prepared in
any manner suitable for rice.
